What is it about a treehouse that brings out the Tom Sawyer in all of us? And who didn’t want one as a child?

Tucked away from FM 1488 just outside of the historic city of Magnolia, Texas, Treehouse Cafe has a mischievous quality that brings out the kid in all of us. From the time you pull up next to the hillbilly bus, to parking under the treehouse up front, you begin to feel the magic of Treehouse Cafe. The path leading to the front door meanders through tall pine trees and Texas scrub where you are greeted like a friend – there are no strangers at the Treehouse! Expect to be welcomed with “hello darlin” and a warm smile. Sit back, relax and get ready to be served up a big plate of comfort food and good humor.

Treehouse Cafe serves generous helpings of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Best sellers for breakfast include the Magnolia Breakfast served with two eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and Texas toast; build-your-own Omelets; decadent Bananas Foster Pancakes; and a Texas must-have, Breakfast Tacos. Crowd favorites for lunch include handhelds like the Magnolia Burger with our sweet and spicy “Romy sauce”; Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger with two grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun; and a Club Sandwich – just to name a few! Dinner entrées come with two sides and feature classics such as Chicken Fried Steak and Salisbury Steak. Most guests end on a sweet note with our homemade Banana Pudding!

The owners, Mike and Mary Kelton have kept all the charm of Treehouse Cafe intact since purchasing it in 2020. Knowing a true gem when they first saw it, the two knew in their hearts that the Treehouse was theirs, but also “owned” by its many regulars. Keeping everything from the “Zombie Garden” to the friendly tortoises and all the quirks and personality of the décor and sloping floors. This is not your chain restaurant, but a homespun slice of Americana.
