WHY

My father served in WWII. Though not while in the military, he passed away when I was young, which put a huge financial burden on my mother. My dad was the breadwinner. My mother was the homemaker. Keep in mind this was in 1975, it aligned with old-school tradition. Anyway, my mother was left to raise and support 5 kids. I had nothing when I left home. I struggled to make a living, put myself thru college while working and raising a family. It was tough. I have the upmost respect for those who volunteer to serve in our military and help protect freedom. I understand the burden on families when a parent is suddenly gone. I love that Folds of Honor is there to support the children of fallen heroes. Furthermore, I believe that if I accept money from the community by way of their business, then I need to give back to that community.

MISSION STATEMENT

Since 2007, the Folds of Honor has carried forth this singular, noble mission. To provide educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service-members.

Folds of Honor is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization, rated a four-star charity by Charity Navigator and platinum on Guide Star, that provides educational scholarships to the families of military men and women who have fallen or been disabled while on active duty in the United States armed forces. Our educational scholarships support private educational tuition and tutoring for children in grades K-12, as well as higher education tuition assistance for spouses and dependents.

Founded in 2007 by Lieutenant Colonel Dan Rooney, a PGA Professional and F-16 fighter pilot in the Air Force Reserves who served three tours of duty in Iraq, Folds of Honor is proud to have awarded approximately 29,000 scholarships in all 50 states and some US territories, including over 4,500 in 2020 alone.
